2020/2021 Season is about to kickoff and there is a great vibe at the club with few new recruits joining the club this season. CUCC Kings extends its warm welcome to all the new players who joined the club this season.
It was 1970/71 season, living in Noble Park, when I met my new neighbour, Bert Thurgood. “Do you play cricket?” he asked. His team, Carnegie Methodist CC was one man short. That is how I remember my initial connection with the Club. After the first day of play, I was totally convinced that this was THE Club for me. I know in my heart that I loved every minute of playing for this Club and my teammates. My greatest pleasure during my 46 years association with this Club is the endearing friendships forged, which continue to this day.
I loved playing at CUCC because this was a family club. I joined because few mates played there and pretty quickly, I got more mates that I call dear friends for the rest of my life. I only played about 4 seasons and it has been over 10 years since I last played but we still catch up as a group and share stories and laughs. Thank you for all the glorious memories that will stay with me forever.
I am in my 37th year at the club. I have done it all, played for some of the clubs great Captains, played with some of the great Bowlers & Batsmen of the club, Captained Premiership teams and shared the highs and lows. This club is not just a Cricket club, it can be part of your life. It is up to to you what you take out of it, that makes you a better person and creates friendship that last forever.
